The ribosome is a biomolecular complex that mediates the biological process of translation, which converts the information contained in mRNA to protein. In this paper, we use information theory to model the ribosome as a communication channel. We obtain analytic bound on the ribosome's channel capacity, numerically approximate this capacity, and compare our results to observed translation rates.
